   Not really, but I think as a 17 year old…..well, go for it, personally I would wait. There really is alot to experience as opposed to putting everything into someone that seems like the one when you are so young. I think holding off for a year until you are 18 shows a bit of maturity….so wait, re-examine where you are then and maybe wait some more if need be….it’s a choice.

   go girl women mature faster than men so 17 – 23 in the mind wise you are equal i dont have a problem with it at all and no one else should either its your lives no one elses i dont understand what your waiting until you turn 18 you dont really like him that much and your tring to get away out thats cool

   It’s a taboo because it often doesn’t work out and lead to marriage. When one person is much younger than the other, they are in different places in their lives and usually want different things. Alot of times, young women THINK they want commitment and marriage etc., and then (especially if they go to college) decide they need time to date and develop more as a person before making such a huge decision. Which I think is perfectly healthy. It is very important to develop yourself and be your own independent person before making a big commitment. Some young women also mature earlier (emotionally) and actually are ready to make the commitment. I would ask a close friend who is honest and can read you well to tell you if he/she thinks you are mature enough to be in the relationship. Also, be very aware that you may alienate your family members if they are very conservative, religious, or older (grandparents). They probably will not approve, and you might have to choose between your family and your man (I know, unfair). They will not want to see you in a relationship that doesn’t look like it will lead to marriage because they don’t want you to succumb to (*gasp*) pre-marital sex. Good luck, and be sure to follow your head as well as your heart. PS – Also, 24 may seem older and mature to you now for a guy, but really, most 24 year old guys aren’t interested in the long-term. Just be careful, and like I said, use your head. Good luck!

   I dont think he’s too old 4 u. maybe at your current age it seems so, but think of later: for example, when u r 29, he’ll be 35. then it doesn’t seem to be a great age difference then, don’t u think? i agree with u: why is it such a taboo?

   I’m not sure you can understand right now. A person changes and matures so much from ages 18 to 24 that when you reach the age of 23, I’m guessing you won’t even consider a guy who is 17. The best comparison I can give you right now is if a 12 year old boy liked you and you got involved with him. Freaks you out, right? That’s kind of the same thing. If a guy who is 23 has his eye on a girl in high school, usually he wants to take advantage of her innocence. That’s why people have a hard time with it. You might not understand fully right now but if your parents or others are freaking out, there’s a good reason and you’d be wise to take a step back and try to see what they’re seeing. (as for celebrities, most of them are pretty messed up so I don’t think people take them very seriously for the most part) I wish you well and hope all works out in your best interest.

   There is a 6 year difference in your ages. As long as the both of you have alot in common the age difference should not get in the way. Ask your friends what they think about it.

   When I was just barely 18 I started dating a man who was 26. We were together for over two years. It was a good relationship and I don’t regret it, but here are some of the problems that came along with it that maybe you should think about.

   1. He was much more concerned with getting married and starting a family than I was.

   2. When I went away to college he stayed behind and I found myself growing apart from him. I wanted to broaden my horizons and his life was so settled and stagnant.

   3. There was ALOT of friction between me and my family due to our age difference. It was a constant battle for acceptance that I ended up deciding wasn’t worth it.

   To be honest I see nothing wrong with it. As I got older most of my female friends started at 18 upto 36. My current wife I met when she was almost 19 and I was 31. WE NOW HAVE BEEN MARRIED FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS AND HAVE A 4 MONTH OLD BABY GIRL. Wouldn’t trade it for the world. Alot of yound women are more mature than men and when men search for women they don’t mind the older women but usually are scared of that knowledgeable of a woman. A young woman usually molds to please her man depending on what she has been through. I hope it works out for you too

   theres no problem with that at all, thats not even that bigger difference. If its legal then its fine people are just narrow minded

    I honestly don’t have any problem with the situation you’re in. The story about the 32 year old does creep me out a little, however. If you really love the guy you’re with, go for it. Nobody should have any influence on what YOU think of this man.
